The City of Aarhus has named the company, which has won the competition on construction and completion of the shell worth just under 400 million Danish kroner in the construction project Urban Mediaspace Aarhus.
The contracting company NCC Construction Denmark A/S will enter into the partner cooperation on construction of the new Mediaspace.
NCC will construct shell, façade, and roof of Mediaspace, carry out the final part of reopening the river, and establish and run the building site for the entire project until 2015. Until the beginning of the building process in August 2011, NCC will enter into close cooperation with the rest of the project organisation to further develop and optimise the project.
Following prequalification, five companies competed for the large task and all submitted offers. The offers were assessed as to price, organisation, staffing, and method.
The task was offered at a fixed price, where tenderers have competed on the ability to offer the project owner the largest possible disposable amount for the building of façades and roof, as this will have great significance for the building’s architectural expression.
In regard to the managing of the building site, the City of Aarhus have, among other things, emphasised the importance of finding a cooperation partner, who can carry out the building process with a low energy consumption, large degree of safety, and with as much consideration for neighbours and travellers in the area.
Urban Mediaspace Aarhus is the largest construction project in the City of Aarhus with a total budget of 1.8 billion Danish kroner. The City of Aarhus is project owner with Realdania and Realdania Byg as tenderer and investor respectively.
