In every department of Aarhus Public Libraries the users are met by Info Galleries shown on big and small screens that the users can interact with and receive inspiration from. The screens make the library’s options and resources visible, rather than hiding them away on the internet. If the user finds something interesting and wish to continue working with it, he can take the information with him by sending it to his e-mail.
The new Info Galleries are developed in a unique co-operation between Aarhus Public Library, the Royal Library, Alexandra Institute A/S and Redia. The concept rose from research from the Center for Interactive Space, ISIS Katrinebjerg, in the project “The Hybrid Library of the Future”. It is, then, an example of research in the library of the future that has become an actual product and additionally that libraries are an exhibition space for research and for testing new technologies.
The Info Galleries has also lead to the development of the Content Channel (Indholdskanalen), which is a joint content database for big screens. The Content Channel is created and maintained in co-operation with 12 other libraries.
